About Us

Established in 2012 from three smaller church communities in Playford, South Australia, Playford Uniting Church is deeply rooted in the vibrant communities north of Adelaide. We believe in the richness of people, and see every day God's flourishing presence in our midst as he does his work here in the North.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to see Futures Transformed in the Playford Community. We don't want to simply be a Sunday church for Sunday people. Located in the heart of Playford, our light-filled, modern space is used seven days a week, by many different community groups. We're committed to fostering partnerships that enable a wide range of events and opportunities for all ages. We're here for the whole community, a place you can call home and perhaps even see your future transformed!

Our Vision

At Playford Uniting Church, we strive to be:
a people AWAKENED by the spirit,
MOVING in our communities,
CULTIVATING hope
and TRANSFORMING futures.

We are part of the Uniting Church and Generate Presbytery

The Uniting Church SA seeks to be an innovative, growing church proclaiming Jesus Christ, empowered by the Spirit to transform God's world. The Uniting Church, formed on 22 June 1977, when the Congregational, Methodist, and Presbyterian Churches united to become one. The Basis of Union is the document which affirms our Christian faith and is the guide to what is central to the life of the Uniting Church in Australia.

We are a member of the Generate Presbytery - Passionate Disciples. Courageous Leaders. Renewed Congregations Generate Presbytery is a Non Geographical Presbytery spanning the breadth of the South Australian Synod. Together we are comprised of around 115 congregations and ministry agents. Our heart beat is to see people come to faith in Jesus Christ, grow in their discipleship, new leaders raised up and empowered and congregations planted and renewed.

Foundational Supporters

We are so grateful for the support that has enabled Playford Uniting Church to begin so strongly. Reading through the early letters of the church in scripture, we see that there were times when churches received, and times when they were able to give, depending on the season. We desire to be a giving church as we have gratefully received.

Thank you to the following churches, groups and individuals for their ongoing love and support.

Rev Pete Riggs

Lead Pastor

I'm Pete and I've been the Pastor here at Playford UC since its beginnings, 13 years ago. I'm married to Rachel, and we have four children, Josh, Maddy, Charlotte and Bella. My ministry journey began in earnest after my science degree, as I found the people of the course more interesting than the microbes at the end of microscope. My time in school chaplaincy, first at Heathfield High then Prince Alfred College, shaped not only my way of ministry but deepened my heart for being among people with the gospel, not merely speaking it. Local church ministry then followed at Seeds Uniting Church in Youth and Children's ministry before we headed north for the adventure and challenge of a lifetime.

Henry Rouse has a friendly smile.

Henry Rouse

Associate Pastor

I'm Henry and I've been the Associate Pastor, part-time at Playford UC since 2017. I'm married to Felicity with 4 adult children who love everything from fashion, to acting, to computer games, to Australian native animals. I studied at Bible College here in Adelaide and then later on at Dallas Theological Seminary in the USA and I've been involved in church ministry for over 30 years. I'm passionate about the Bible, love studying scripture and sharing with others how Jesus can change their lives too. In my spare time I coach Women's footy at Angle Vale and I enjoy good coffees and cooking American BBQ.

Felicity Rouse has a bright and welcoming smile.

Felicity Rouse

Community Space and Communications Coordinator
felicity.rouse@playforduc.org.au

I'm Felicity and I work in our Community Space part-time. I'm married to Henry and I'm the mum of 4 adult children, 3 dogs and 2 cats! I've always loved being involved in the local church, serving in many different areas. I studied Urban and Regional planning at Uni, which cultivated my interest in the local community, in terms of design and community engagement and how these intersect. Outside of church and community life I love spending time in nature, discovering cool coffee shops around Adelaide and going op shopping with my kids!

Isaac Prior has a large grin.

Isaac Prior

Youth Coordinator
Isaac.Prior@playforduc.org.au

I'm Isaac, the Youth Coordinator, and I'm married to Abigail and love being a follower of Jesus. I like playing sport, although I'm not very good at it, and I like eating food, which I am good at. When I'm not at church I'm either walking our dog (who chews everything if he isn't exercised), or at Hopestreet, where I serve as part of the team there, trying to make a difference in the lives of young people in Playford. I feel called to our community of Playford and long to see people's lives transformed through encountering the hope, love, and grace of Jesus.
